PROJECT #7: REFLECTOR LIGHTING PORTRAITS
REFLECTOR PORTRAITS IN CLASS:
1. Make 18 images of a partner - each with a different quality/color/direction of light illuminating their face using the reflectors.
2. Be mindful of, and very intentional with, the angle of the highlights & shadows for each image.
3. Photograph your subject in THREE different locations.
4. For each location, make a couple photographs WITHOUT using the reflector.
*For the daytime images, your highlights & shadows are likely to be significantly more subtle than the photos you will make with your subject at home.
The Reflectors:
WHITE: Provides neutral soft-fill reflection
SILVER: Similar to white, but reflects higher contrast light
GOLD: Reflects warmer light for enhanced skin tone in neutral or cool light situations
BLACK: Blocks unwanted reflections and kills light spill
NOTE: When making your photographs, the reflector should be moved to different locations and angles above, below, and to the sides of your subject's face.
